50 Family-Friendly Tunes

By: , September 5th, 2015. Posted in: Happiness, Parenting

A kid-friendly playlist that the entire family will enjoy (because you can only listen to "Wheels On The Bus" so many times).

A future Ben Folds, perhaps?

Like many families, we love music!  We love to dance around the living room to our favorites and sing along with our playlists on car trips.  We also frequently indulge the experimentation of making new melodies with kids’ musical instruments (and objects which were not designed for such use).

That said, you can only listen to Wheels On The Bus so many times before your head explodes.  While traditional kids songs are catchy by design (and universally family-friendly), there’s a two-way satisfaction that comes with sharing your own musical tastes with your kiddos.  You really don’t have to suffer through hours of Old MacDonald and Itsy Bitsy Spider just because you’re with your kids.  They love “real” music too.

On that note, our favorite songs already have some great memories attached to them.  And we’re continually enriching those memories, by way of LB’s groovy toddler dance moves and the most adorable butchering of lyrics you’ve ever heard.

We really enjoyed putting together the following list, and we hope you and your family enjoy them.  While they’re free of explicit language (by our own standards), we know they’re not 100% free from adult themes or complex ideas (American Pie is downright depressing when you consider the subject matter).  But we love singing along with them all, and we think most of them are catchy enough to maintain interest by even the most jaded two year olds.

I love it. Real music for kids! Cultivating exposure to a nice variety of genres, too.
